The new year starts well: double bass player Todd Matthews has agreed to contribute to the #secretalbum!
I’ve been familiar with Todd’s work for some time now, as he is a contributer to the Looper’s Delight Mailing List (yes! mailing list! oldskool rulez!). What I heard from him mostly were double bass covers of tracks which are “popular music” in the widest sense. What had me convinced right from the start (next to his command of the instrument, especially when playing arco, and his tasteful musicianship) was also the fantastic tone he gets and is able to record from his bass.
I have to admit that right now, I’m not exactly sure what I have in the can for Todd – but until then, why not enjoy him beautifully covering something beautiful from decades ago?
