Paul (für Paul) is a track I had originally written more than one year ago. Back then, I had been thinking about a duo project with former Eclectic Blah guitarist Jan Kühner – combining his (electric) guitar and my (acoustic) piano.

While actual sessions or writing rehearsals never got past a few Realbook-oriented jazz jams, I did record some sketches for some songs I had written. Paul offers some Hindemith-oriented harmonies and clusters in the piano part (hence the name), plus a stack of four guitar amps which all go to eleven.

A Dance Song is an excerpt of the kybermusik session I did back in the day with Jeff Duke – I remember it was me who introduced him to that technology. Of course, I had wanted to publish an edit of that session. After Jeff had beaten me to it (see here for Jeff’s edit), I though “well, then I make something different from the material”, started some work in Cubase, and forgot about it.

This short sketch combines programmed drums with the original tracks of Jeff’s and my playing. It’s noteworthy here that the only instruments used here are drum samples, guitar and trombone…go figure and dance!
